The First News Filter: Why Screening News Matters as Much as Screening Stocks

Topic: product/category-positioning piece. Argument: many platforms let users screen stocks (filter by valuation, sector, market cap, etc.) but until Insighthread, no platform let users filter news itself the same way. Because Insighthread's news is structured (categorized by event type, tagged with an impact signal, tied to market cap/sector/exchange data), users can filter news by sentiment (positive/negative), by sector, by market cap, by exchange, by their own watchlist, or by event category (earnings, M&A, insider trades, etc.), and combine filters together. Frame this as only possible because of the filings-first generation pipeline (link back to that post) — freeform news articles from other platforms can't be filtered this precisely because they were never structured data in the first place. Concrete example to use (from live product, dev.insighthread.com/news): a user filters the News feed by Exchange, Impact Signal = Positive, Market Cap = Small Cap, and Category = FDA Approval/Rejections, combining all four at once, and gets a clean list of small-cap biotech/pharma names with positive FDA approval news (e.g. Replimune, Iovance Biotherapeutics, Pharming Group, Kamada, MannKind) each tagged with market cap and impact signal inline. This is the kind of compound filter (event type + market cap + sentiment + exchange) that has no equivalent on Yahoo Finance, MarketWatch, or most terminals — you'd otherwise have to manually scan headlines across separate tools to build this view yourself. Use this as the lead scenario when the full article is written, to make the filtering claim concrete instead of abstract.

Why I Check Insighthread First When a Stock I Own Drops

A stock I own dropped 6% and my first move wasn't Stocks or TradingView, both already open on my phone. It was Insighthread. Here's an honest look at what that reflex says about showing data versus showing an answer.

Demo Content Insighthread Only Reads SEC Filings

Most 'stock news' tools recycle press releases and social chatter. We built Insighthread to read the primary source instead — 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-Ks, and transcripts.
