Is Insighthread Legit? How We Source Every Data Point
Insighthread is a research platform for investors that sources its news, filings, transcripts and financials only from SEC filings. Here is who we are, what we do, and how you can check our work.
The Insighthread Team

If you have just heard of Insighthread, asking whether it is legitimate is the right first question.
This post answers it directly, and gives you ways to check the answer yourself.
What Insighthread is: an investor research platform built on SEC filings
Insighthread is a research platform for investors.
It covers more than 6,000 publicly listed US companies.
Its news, filings, transcripts and financial data are all sourced exclusively from SEC filings.
There are no third-party media outlets, no wire services and no freelance commentary behind it.
The idea we built it on is simple: every claim should trace back to a filing.
Where Insighthread's data comes from: SEC EDGAR
All filing data comes from SEC EDGAR, the public database where US companies file their official documents.
That includes the 8-Ks, Form 4s, 10-Ks and 10-Qs that investors already rely on.
You do not need an Insighthread account to look at EDGAR.
It is a public record, which is the point.
How to verify any Insighthread news item yourself
Every news item on Insighthread is generated from a filed SEC document.
Each one links directly to the originating filing, so you can open the source and compare it with what we wrote.
In the app, clicking a headline opens the article with a Sources section that names the exact filing it came from, such as a Form 4 or a Schedule 13G/A, along with the filing date.
You can open that filing from the same screen.
If an item ever reads differently from its source, the source is the one to trust.
What Insighthread does not do
We do not publish rumors.
The system only processes filed documents, so nothing unfiled can enter the news pipeline.
News items are short and fact-only, with no opinion, no analyst commentary and no speculation.
We are also not a broker, and we do not tell you what to buy or sell.
Insighthread is a place to read what companies have filed and to ask questions about it.
AI answers in Insighthread: useful, and clearly labelled
Insighthread includes an AI analyst on every page.
It answers using the filings, transcripts and financials in the platform, and it prioritizes the document you currently have open.
Like any AI tool, it can make mistakes, and the app says so: "AI can make mistakes. Please double-check responses."
That is why the sources stay one click away.
What Insighthread costs
Insighthread has a 7-day free trial with no credit card needed.
After that it is $30 a month or $300 a year.
You can try the product before you decide anything.
A fair test of whether Insighthread is legit
The honest way to judge any research tool is to check it against the primary source.
Pick a news item in Insighthread, open the linked filing, and read the two side by side.
Do that a few times and you will know more than any review could tell you.
When you are ready, open the News feed and start with a company you already follow.
