Business Development, News API

Remote (anywhere) · Full-time or contract, open to discussion

About the role

The Insighthread News API turns every SEC filing into a structured, fact-only event in under 90 seconds. Each event has a category, a five-bar impact signal and a link to its source filing, across 6,000+ US public companies.

We are looking for someone to find and close its customers: fintechs, brokers and trading apps, financial newsletters, research platforms and data buyers.

What you'll do

  • Build and work a pipeline of fintechs, brokerages, trading apps, newsletters, research platforms and data buyers.
  • Run discovery calls and demos, and learn what each buyer needs from filing data.
  • Turn conversations into trials, and trials into paid contracts.
  • Help shape pricing, packaging and terms for new deals.
  • Bring back what buyers ask for, so the product team knows which coverage and features to build next.
  • Keep the CRM up to date and share a short weekly pipeline note.

Who you are

  • You have sold data, APIs or software to financial companies such as fintechs, brokers, asset managers or financial media.
  • You can explain a technical product to an engineer and to a head of product in the same meeting.
  • You are comfortable owning the whole cycle: prospecting, outreach, demos, negotiation and close.
  • You know how financial data is bought: trials, licences, usage-based pricing and redistribution rights.
  • You are self-directed and work well remotely.

Nice to have

  • A network at brokerages, trading platforms, fintechs or financial newsletters.
  • Familiarity with SEC filings such as 8-K, 10-K, Form 4 and 13F.
  • Experience at a market data or alternative data vendor.
  • Enough technical comfort to read API docs and walk a buyer through a sample request.
  • Experience selling to AI and LLM teams that need source-linked data.
